A medium sized group showed up to share stories of their recent builds. Let's get right to Show and Tell.
Show and Tell Dave kicked thigs off with an 1/8th scale chopper that was inspired by an illustration in Model Car magazine. Dave scratch built the bike frame and heads for the flat V8. The rear came from the Lindberg Big T, slicks and box from the Revell , and front fork from the Revell 1/8th chopper kit. He also had a 37 Ford body that is destine to be a gasser, he combined the grille, fenders, and hood to form a one-piece tilt front end.
Bob brought in the current state of his hearse show rod project. It is the 32 Ford switcher kit with a chopped front and wedged body. He has also built a coffin for the back. Next in line for Bob's bench is a resin milk truck kit that may become a slammed custom. The resin body weighs a ton so Bob will have to give it a strong suspension.
Randy had a 66 El Camino altered wheelbase drag car. This model is based on a drawing Randy did long ago when he was supposed to be paying attention in school. The frame is from an AMT kit while the engine and body come from a Mnogram El Camino.
Charlie has a 62 Corvette custom. He did not like the look of the chrome bumpers so he is planning to leave them off for a more aggressive look. Charlie also had a 57 Chevy monster truck. The chassis and most of the rest of the undercarriage came from a bag of parts Charlie bought at a swap meet - he bought the bag jsut to get the wheels and tires. The engine and body cames from his parts bin.
Paul was welcomed back after a long absence. He brought in the new Hot Wheels diecast of the 1960's TV Batmobile. This was the intermediate detail version and Paul told us about the expensive fully detailed version that includes everything but the Batman to drive it.
Tony brought the Batman but he is a little out of scale to go with Paul's car. This Batman figure is based on the graphic novel by Simon Bisel. Tany also brought a Terminator figure also based on a Simon Bisely novel.
Kevin had a Ford COE tractor and loaded car hauler trailer. The tracot was converted from an old stake-side truck kit long before the current tractor kit became available. The car hauler carries a couple of 1960's Ford pick ups and a Ford Starliner. Kevin is looking for a 1960's Falcon and Thunderbird to replace the pick ups.
John has now made the rounds of all three model clubs with his Pride and Passion cannon.
Dmitri brought in his version of the Mobieus Models Dr. Jekyl kit. D had to scratch build the open mouth of the figure and said he was alittle disappointed with how the kit was engineered. A few people noticed more than a passing resemblance between D's Dr. Jekyl and our own Dr. Daily - coincidence?
